Teresa Carver is a civil trial lawyer. Since beginning her career in 1992, Teresa immediately began working in the area of insurance law. She has balanced her practice between coverage work and insurance litigation involving both first-party and third-party lawsuits and involving both personal and commercial lines policies. Teresa is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell with a Preeminent 5 out of 5 rating. Additionally, she was voted one of Houston’s Top Lawyers, Houston Texas Magazine, in 2006. Teresa has also served as a speaker at several seminars and authored or co-authored several papers on various topics including the Stowers’ doctrine, first-party issues, the duty to defend, reservation of rights letters, premises liability, property and casualty coverage, and others. Teresa is married to Matt Carver, and they have two children. Keleigh (age 18) is a freshman at Baylor University. Kyle (age 15) is a sophomore at Tomball Memorial High School. Teresa is very involved with her children and their educations and other activities. Outside of the practice of law, Teresa enjoys traveling and outdoor adventures with her family. Their most recent adventures included zip-lining, waterfall rappelling, and exploring the amazing Actun Tunichil Muknal caves in Belize.
Teresa earned her J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1992, graduating magna cum laude. While at South Texas College of Law, Teresa was a member of the South Texas Law Review and a member of the scholastic legal honor society, The Order of the Lytae. She earned her B.B.A. from Southwest Texas State University in 1988, graduating magna cum laude.
Teresa is a member of the Insurance Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. She also served on the Steering Committee of the American Law Firm Association Insurance Law Practice Group for several years. She is admitted to the State Bar of Texas and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas.
